For this month, I will be breaking down the Principles of "The Energy of Money" by Maria Nemeth. It is from 1997, but I find its content still relevant. Starting next week, I will break down 3 Principles from the book. Each Principle will ask that you take some action in order to fully harness the "energy of money." Whether we realize it or not, money is prevalent in the 16-20 hours that we are all awake. Money is a very powerful energy that dictates how we live our lives. If we do not acknowledge its power, we are left suffering in its wake.
Read moreThe Latte Factor to the Litter Factor
In "Go Green, Live Rich," David Bach introduces us to the "Litter Factor." It is a concept that further elaborates on how small things add up to big things. For example, buying coffee in a disposable single-use cup not only drains you a few dollars each day, it also contributes trash to the environment. Think about all of the coffee you consume, where do those cups go. Some days, you will see them pile up in the corner trash can, other days, you'll see one being swept by the rain and end up in the sewage system and eventually in the rivers. When you start thinking about what you consume, how much it costs you and how much it costs the environment, you start thinking differently.

Read moreMoney Tips for College Grads
I've been reading a lot of the commencement speeches out there. While I am as idealistic as the next person, there are some practical advice that I think every college grad should know. Now it's been 11 years since I graduated college and the world has changed so much since then, but I wish I had been exposed to so much more so that I would have been a little bit more prepared. First of all congratulations for making it. You, my dear, still have a long life ahead which means you now have to start planning and working towards securing a better life for yourself and your significant other (even if you are still single.) Planning isn't necessarily a core idea to the YOLO generation, but trust me, it will help you in the long run.

Read moreWhere Does Trash Go?
It is a known fact that the United States ships it's waste to other parts of the world. Electronic and textile waste are primary items that get discarded in another country. In the Philippines, donated clothes called "ukay ukay" are re-sold in small town markets. In places such as India, our electronic waste is taken apart so that the parts can be re-sold and melted. The problem with this process is that it's done by individuals without any type of protective gear. It's children handling hazardous materials just so that they can eat. The irony in all of this is that these items are manufactured just a few villages away in inhumane conditions. They are made by hard working individuals with little pay, gets sold in high end stores at 100x or more and then discarded quite easily by our over consuming society.
