What: Woo Bamboo Silk Floss
First, it took us more than a year to finish a Costco pack of conventional floss and even when we did, I was so reluctant to buy a new package because I hadn't had time to research a more eco-friendly replacement that my husband was getting antsy not having floss around the house. I scoured the house for floss and found a few of those samplers that the dentist gives you in our travel toiletry bags. Unconsciously, we were hoarding floss around the house.
Are there eco-friendly alternatives to floss? There are, but some aren't really floss and Bea's suggestion from Zero Waste Home of unraveling a silk shirt to get the thread felt like too much work for me. Alas, after some searching regarding alternatives, I ended up buying Woo Bamboo. A few people had mentioned it in the comments of popular blog posts so I thought I would check them out, try it out and run it through the gamut.
Of course, you may not need floss, but for me, I have a small gap in my back teeth where food constantly gets stuck (I know, gross!), so I have to be diligent and floss every night, which is good for my overall health and well being. Perhaps, you can use the following alternatives for yourself instead:

Background
Woo Bamboo doesn't consider themselves a toothbrush or hygiene company. They see themselves as an inspiration company offering consumers a clean conscience. Currently, they sell bamboo toothbrushes, floss and toothpaste.
Flavor
Classic Mint, but it's not overwhelmingly strong
Ingredients
It's made of natural silk. Biodegradable and I did perform a burn test and it burned completely clean.
Product Packaging
The floss itself comes in a bio plastic that also acts as a dispenser. If you've ever looked at conventional toothpastes, it's usually in a plastic container, then wrapped again in a transparent plastic film. With Woo Bamboo Floss, the container and the packaging are all in one. The design look fairly simple. Feels slightly flimsy from what we are used to especially the hard shells of the Oral B flosses, but after multiple uses, the packaging has held up fairly well. After we finish our first pack, I will update this to see how this packaging dissolves and degrade in either water or a worm bin. Let's see!
Cost
Around $10 for the 2 Pack. Each pack is around 37 meters, around 121 feet. I used a discount code the site provided and you can also check out their Instagram for promotional codes. I'm expecting this to last a while actually. Maybe for 6 months.

Currently on their website, woobamboo.com or via Amazon. For this review, I opted to purchase directly from the company website as I wasn't sure how Amazon would package this and I wanted to see how the company sends these out. I purchased the 2 Pack Eco Floss in Mint directly from woobamboo.
Shipping Packaging
The 2 Pack came in a First Class Package of a paper envelope, however, it came with a lot of plastic packing tape. More that necessary I believe. The package also came with their product book, a handwritten note, a toothpaste sampler and a small postcard stating the the product was mindfully packaged using eco-friendly materials.

Woo Bamboo Floss has no separate plastic case because the packaging is the container.
Verdict
This is a buy for me.
The floss doesn't have a waxy coating which I like because it adds more friction in between the teeth.
I was reluctant about the packaging because it seemed flimsy in the first place, but so far it has held up pretty well.
The floss itself is strong and I have not had a tear with it.
