What: Boody Bamboo Underwear
Admittedly, I have not bought new underwear since I got married back in 2013. And the only reason I bought them was because I wanted something fancy to wear for the night. Ha. Honestly though, I had found myself with a fairly decent amount of Victoria’s Secret underwear. Not really sure how I accumulated so much, but I think every time they had those 5 for $25 sale, I happily partook in the deal and thus ended up with a stockpile.
I knew that the next time I needed some new undies I would opt for something that was made a bit more sustainable and made from a company and facility that didn’t have sweatshop labor or harsh chemicals attached to it. I had seen Boody being promoted by some of my favorite IGers so I wanted to check it out. The other option for me was Organic Basics ($62 for a 4-pack of organic hipster cotton underwear from Organic Basics vs. $34 for a 4-pack of bamboo hipster underwear from Boody) , but there were just too pricey for what I wanted which was basic underwear.
I also opted to also do a bulk buy, opting to get instead 2 mutli-packs of a hipster style and a classic bikini style for a total of 9 underwears total plus a classic V-neck shirt (since my Everlane one is starting to look ragged after having owned it since 2015.)

Background
Boody is an eco clothing brand that was born in Australia. They primarily use bamboo for all of their textiles, manufacturing basics for men, women and baby.
Material
Primarily bamboo
The bamboo used to make the yarn for Boody bamboo eco wear is grown in China by Hebei Jigao Chemical Fiber Company. They hold the patent on the process for turning bamboo into yarn.
Boody yarn is certified organic by OCIA (The Organic Crop Improvement Association).
The bamboo is grown in accordance with the international organic standard of OCIA / IFOAMand the USDA National Organic Program, so as to ensure each bamboo stalk is of 100% natural growth and free of any chemical pesticides.
All fiber produced at our facility in China is Oeko-Tex 100 certified.
Sizes
Varies on what kind of clothing you get, but most items come in XS to XL.
Product Packaging
Packaged in thin cardboard that is fully recyclable and compostable and no plastic at all. (See photo)
Underwear have tags that can easily be removed with a single thread pull. They provide instructions on how to do so, but I have not needed to remove the tags.
Cost
Bought two sets of a multi-pack of 5 underwear for $42 each and one basic V-neck tee. Total came out to $98.56 as they had one of those sales going on and I opted for FREE economy shipping as there was no need to rush my underwear.

Came to me shipped in a small cardboard box without any plastic packaging. Filler was brown paper.

Verdict
It’s a buy.
Super, super soft.
I was nervous putting it in the wash the first time. Not sure why because it just seemed too soft and delicate, but it held up under a regular setting.
I opted for classic black and nude so it’s just easier to pick out and pack without worrying about where my favorite one is.
Fits well. I’m pregnant now, but my hips/butt area remain the same size (thankfully) so I opted to get the Medium on all underwear and shirt.
I do wish the V-neck shirt was a bit longer. Without a belly, it falls right around the hip and I prefer my tees just a little longer so I can tuck a side in.
I’ve noticed that most of my product reviews have been a buy and I don’t think that’s a coincidence. I rarely buy on impulse anymore so it takes a few hours of research for me to pull the trigger into buying something which means I’ve already weighed a lot of alternative options before purchasing including figuring out if I can buy it locally to reduce shipping.
